Stevie Wonder "Songs in the Key of Life" 180 Gram Vinyl, 2-LP set, Album, Reissue, Remastered (2009 Motown Records pressing)
The 2009 vinyl reissue of Songs in the Key of Life brings Stevie Wonder’s landmark 1976 album back to the turntable. Blending soul, funk, jazz, pop, and gospel influences, the collection pairs richly layered arrangements with expressive vocals, inventive keyboard work, and infectious rhythms. Its expansive musical range captures Wonder at a creative peak, moving effortlessly between exuberant grooves and intimate, reflective moments.
Standouts include the horn-driven “Sir Duke,” the buoyant funk of “I Wish,” and the joyful “Isn’t She Lovely.” “As” and “Knocks Me Off My Feet” highlight Wonder’s gift for romantic melody, while “Contusion” explores jazz fusion and “Another Star” closes the main album with an expansive, Latin-flavored groove. Throughout, memorable hooks and accomplished musicianship make even the longer arrangements feel inviting.
