Stratosphere is the debut studio album by American indie rock band Duster, released February 24, 1998 on Up Records. Built from minimalist, largely home-recorded sessions (using a deliberately lo-fi, analog-leaning approach), the album blends slowcore’s restrained pacing with space-rock atmosphere and shoegaze-adjacent texture—soft, half-submerged vocals, cyclical guitar patterns, and quiet-to-loud swells that prioritize mood over flash. Standout tracks like “Heading for the Door,” “Gold Dust,” “Topical Solution,” “Constellations,” and “Inside Out” capture the record’s hazy push-pull between intimacy and distance.
