Carole King "Tapestry" Vinyl, LP, Album, Reissue, Stereo, Gatefold (2021 Legacy?Epic/Ode Records pressing)
Tapestry is the second studio album by American singer-songwriter Carole King, originally released on February 10, 1971, on Ode Records (distributed by A&M). Produced by Lou Adler, the album became a landmark of the early-1970s singer-songwriter era, pairing King’s Brill Building–honed pop craft with an intimate, conversational delivery built around piano-led arrangements.
King wrote or co-wrote every track, shaping themes of love, distance, and resilience into direct, emotionally grounded songs. The recording sessions at A&M Studios in Hollywood featured a close-knit circle of musicians from her Laurel Canyon community, including James Taylor (who plays on several tracks and later had a No. 1 hit with his own version of “You’ve Got a Friend”). The result is a warm blend of soft rock and pop, with understated grooves, tasteful strings and backing vocals, and a focus on melody and lyrical clarity.
